Stille Post –
Vom Original zur Neuinterpretation

The 2016 audiovisual exhibition „Stille Post“ is the result of a successful connection and co-organisation by Strippenzieherei, being continued in 2017.

It exhibits Visual Music works created at the Institut fuer Musik und Medien of Düsseldorf’s Robert Schumann Hochschule. The audiovisual journey is subtitled as „from original to new interpretations“ and took place at SiTTart Galerie of VDDK 1844 (Club of Düsseldorf artists founded 1844).

KAMMERMUSIK

KAMMERMUSIK
audiovisual building sound portrait of the
Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf

The visual music film Kammermusik is an audiovisual building sound portrait by visual music artist Katharina Blanken, which has won awards in the categories Best International Film at the Sydney Architecture Festival 2015, Best experimental Film at Tehran International Silent Film Festival 2016 and at CINETECTON! Festival Internacional de Cine y Arquitectura 2016. The group around Katharina Blanken took a look at the inaudible backside of the building of Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. By doing so, you will notice musicians, sitting and rehearsing separately in their lit rooms. Every night, this results in a visual interplay of those parallel worlds. Like some kind of mosaic or musical sequencer, still, this auditory interplay is barely audible.

Kammermusik has been selected for 25 international Film Festivals in the categories visual music, music video, experimental, video art and architecture film.

„Beautiful both musically and visually. Combining the voyeurism of Hitchcock’s Rear Window, with the allegory of apartment blocks (and by extension, cities) as orchestral arrangements – seemingly random, but with an inherent harmony from each individual playing their part. The time lapse transforming the windows  from spotlighted vignettes into a connected building fabric is lovely.“

Peter Salhani – Jury member Sydney Architecture Festival 2015

PREQUEL KAMMERMUSIK

PREQUEL KAMMERMUSIK
Practical Study on the resulting
conceptual implementation of Kammermusik

The Prequel of Kammermusik is looking at the inaudible backside. The concept for this audiovisual sound portrait of the building of the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, was created when thinking about the idea of „switching“ these rooms on and off, thus connecting and arranging the independent pieces of music and light. This project is a means of interference, disintegrating the concept of internal

and external, of isolation and collectiveness, playing with the perception of time without changing rhythm. It is the result of interrupting this parallel event, however, an allegedly real image remains present to the viewer. The essence of this audiovisual composition and the goal of its technical production is to portray the building’s inner life.
